Coin Desgining

Getting your coin design done is very simple! There are only a few limitations and guidelines to cover.

Coin Layout

1. Ensure your layout is at a high resolution of 300 pixels.

2. Size no larger than 4in x4in (1200px x 1200px)

3. File type MUST be a .png with NO background

4. Size of the circle does not matter, but it must be a perfect circle.

That's as simple as it is folks!

Note: If you do draw at a larger canvas size it should be ok. As long as you can upload it that is fine. I have just found that the size shown above works really well and how I design at with any coin I make or assist in designing.

Design Limitations

TEXT

With text it is important to make sure the font you use can be readable on such a small item like the coins.

  • Avoid fonts that look tight or squished together. Letters may blur or get washed out

  • Add in a slim board around the letters in either black or white.

  • Text should be moderate in size to the coin. Extremely small text will not come out well.

    •  A good example is a small "TM" mark. At the size of these coins such a small text will come out looking like an error on the coin. Best to avoid or remove such marks

  • There are not limitations on how much text is in your design but adding a lot of text could lead to issues of limitations stated above

IMAGES

FurCoin is able to do detailed full color designs, however there are some things to note.

  • Due to the 3D effect done with the coins to make things pop, full body pieces are not advisable.

    • Icons, logos, or character headshots are recommended.

  • If you are using a design fully/partly made by another any sort of small watermark should not be placed on the piece. Like with the limitation noted in TEXT. Very small marks will appear like a production error. Artist(s) will be credited in the coin bio

  • Utilize boards of black and white where needed if your main design aspects blend with your chosen background

  • While FurCoin does automatically add a depth map to your designs. Adding in your own 3D effects is welcomed and encouraged! Depth maps will align very nicely to those effects.

Design Assisting by FurCoin

If you are going to be sending assets for FurCoin to design your coin for you please ensure you send the following items for each side of your coin:

Artist Credit (if applicable)

Asset(s) you want used

From there a coin design will be worked up utilizing the assets provided and your coin bio to design something for you. Once both sides have been designed you will receive an email to approve the design.

Please keep in mind that design work is done free by FurCoin. For that reason there will be a limit of 2 revisions allowed. If you wish for a very specific design, then please consider commissioning an artist to work with!

Note: I am not an artist, I do not draw or will draw and entire design. I am only capable of make designs with assets provided, acquired for free/paid or assets that I have made such as textures, fonts, basic icons, etc.

As FurCoin grows, the goal is to add a few artists to the FurCoin team to better help those with limited options. Due to FurCoin being entirely out of FurBitten Studios pocket funds are not currently available to bring on any artists at this time however.

FurCoin Design Example

24-Marked.jpg

In this example FurCoin was given a scale and the note that this was a community coin to represent justice for all. Using the given asset and the theme I created a coin with assets that I felt were representations of that. From the scale itself, the marble textures, and a general capital building. While the furry fandom is large and full of all kinds of species, placing the most commonly used paw prints on the coin was the most ideal to help pull this into the furry community, without cluttering the coin. There was no way I could possibly fit every paw style on this. The globe over any sort of flag pushed it along further to emphasize that this was for all of us no matter what lands you hail from.

Artist Approval

If you commissioned an artist to design your whole coin or are sending FurCoin a commissioned art piece to use in making your design, you MUST include a screenshot EXSACTLY like the example below. This is to confirm the artist of the piece itself, that they are aware and approve of what it's going to be used for, and informs me of how they wish to be credited in the coin bio.

Note: FurCoin is not able to read any other language aside from English. Please ensure the artists approval is in English. Minor translation errors are acceptable

IMPORTANT

I understand that some franchises may be big influences to you, your character, or even your business. However, designs that contain or heavily reference assets from copyrighted IP's may result in a rejection.

While many companies are open about independent merchandising other's are not and are even predatory about it.

For example, Pokémon, Disney, and more.

For liability reasons I will not be able to make and sell coins that involve such companies' assets.

I apologize to those with that may get rejected for this policy.
